UN Ocean Conference opens in Nice today to tackle ocean “Emergency’

President Emmanuel Macron on Monday opened the UN Ocean Conference in the French riviera city of Nice with an urgent call for multilateral mobilisation to save the seas and marine biodiversity. A High Seas Treaty should be ratified at the summit, said Macron, as he issued a call for a moratorium on deep-sea mining.
