Thai court clears ex-PM Thaksin of royal defamation charges

A Thai court on Friday cleared former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of royal defamation charges, saying there was not enough evidence to prove wrongdoing. The case stemmed from decades-old remarks Thaksin made in South Korean media that prosecutors said violated Thailand's strict laws prohibiting insults against its royal family.
