An Algerian court is set to issue a verdict on Tuesday regarding prosecutors’ request to increase the prison sentence of Boualem Sansal, a dual-national author whose conviction has strained relations with France. Sansal, 80, was initially sentenced to five years in prison on March 27 for remarks made to a French media outlet, which were deemed to undermine Algeria’s territorial integrity.
