A skull was recently discovered at a medieval church – and an expert believes it may belong to a legendary European king.
Emese Gábor, a facial reconstruction specialist and portrait sculptor based in Hungary, spoke with Fox News Digital about the discovery.
The skull was found in the ossuary portion of the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Székesfehérvár, Hungary. Gábor believes the skull belongs to Matthias Corvinus, who ruled as king of Hungary and Croatia from 1458 to 1490.

A new bill has passed the Senate in The Aloha State to raise the tourist tax in an effort to “reduce climate change.”
Senate Bill 1396 aims to raise the tourist tax on Hawaii hotels to 11% starting Jan. 1 — which would then increase to 12% the following year, according to the text of the bill.
Portions of the revenue raised would go into the “Climate Mitigation and Resiliency Special Fund” and the “Economic Development and Revitalization Special Fund,” according to the bill.

An amateur rock collector recently hit the jackpot while exploring a state park in Arkansas.
David DeCook, a Minnesota resident, unearthed a stunning 3.81-carat brown diamond at the Crater of Diamonds State Park on April 21.
The diamond is the largest that has been found in the park in 2025 so far, according to Arkansas State Parks.
WOMAN OUT FOR A WALK STUMBLES UPON ONCE-IN-A-DECADE DISCOVERY
In a press release, the government organization said that DeCook was on a family trip to the park when he found the gem.
“DeCook calmly walked over to where he had seen the diamond, picked it up and inspected it before calling to his brother,” the press release noted. “Stirring up some natural sibling rivalry, David told Derek, ‘”Oh, you’re going to be mad once you see what I found!’”
The Minnesota resident returned to the park a few days later to register the diamond.
DeCook decided to name his discovery “the Duke Diamond” after his dog.

Archaeologists recently discovered proof of a gladiatorial fight with a lion in an unexpected tourist destination.
York, a city in northern England known for its breathtaking medieval architecture, welcomes millions of visitors annually – but its history goes much further back than the Middle Ages.
The area was inhabited by the ancient Romans, who founded the city in 71 A.D. and named it Eboracum.
ARCHAEOLOGISTS UNCOVER MASSIVE NUMBER OF HORSE SKELETONS AT 'IMPORTANT' ROMAN MILITARY SITE
Until now, archaeologists weren't sure that gladiatorial fights with lions took place outside of Italy – and didn't have much evidence of these battles, other than Roman art depicting the fights.
The recent findings, publicized in the journal PLOS One, analyze a puncture wound that was found on the pelvis of a gladiator buried in a York cemetery.
The gladiator lived during the 3rd century A.D. and was between 26 and 35 years old at the time of his death.

Archaeologists uncover centuries-old shipwreck beneath historic city: ‘Unique source of knowledge’
A centuries-old shipwreck was recently found in an unlikely place in Spain: a former fish market.
The Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB) said the decayed ship was found in the former Mercat del Peix – which translates to “fish market” – in the Catalan capital. Named Ciutadella I, the shipwreck was found between April 10 and April 15.
Discovered during construction work, the ship dates back between the 15th and 16th centuries. The discovery reflects Barcelona's maritime history, said ICUB.
