A message in a bottle sent by staff or students from a school that no longer exists has washed up on a beach, news agency SWNS reported — and was promptly found by a group of young people.
Hedda Traa Haukom was on the beach in Ny-Hellesund in the south of Norway with her cousins when they discovered the message in a bottle.
“We stumbled on a bottle with a piece of paper inside,” Haukom, 14 years old, told the news outlet. “It was located 10 meters from shore, under a rock. The bottle looked pretty old, so we decided to open it and read the note.”

‘Odd-looking’ deep sea fish washes up on beach, surprising locals: ‘Would not expect to run across’
An “odd-looking” deep-sea fish recently washed ashore on an Oregon beach to the surprise of a local aquarium.
The Seaside Aquarium in Seaside, Oregon, published pictures of the dead fish in an April 23 Facebook post. Experts identified the fish as a longnose lancetfish.
“Resembling a barracuda, this is one fish you would not expect to run across along the Oregon coast,” the aquarium said. “Their beautiful large eyes, sharp fang-like teeth, and serpent-like body distinguish this fish from most others living in the Pacific Northwest.”

The aquarium noted that little is known about longnose lancetfish.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said the species “look like they swam out of prehistoric time.”
“Features include gaping fanged jaws, enormous eyes, a sail-like fin, and a long, slithery body,” the NOAA's website describes.

“It is a fine ship but I shall await my journey's end before I pass judgment on her,” Gracie wrote compellingly in the letter.
“The Oceanic is like an old friend and while she does not possess the elaborate style and varied amusement of this big ship, still her seaworthy qualities and yacht-like appearance make me miss her,” he added.
As noted by Henry Aldridge & Son Ltd, Gracie woke up suddenly before midnight on April 14 when the .. -

Cruise line bans dozens after massive brawl caught on camera breaks out at Texas port: ‘Do not sail list’
Dozens of Carnival Cruise Line passengers have been placed on the popular cruise line's “do not sail list” and are banned from setting sail on any of the company’s vessels again after getting involved in a violent brawl in Galveston, Texas, where their ship was docked.
The violence was captured on video, which was later posted to social media. In the clip, several cruise passengers push through a crowd in the terminal before someone gets pushed to the ground and begins to get pummeled by at least two men.
The brawl then expanded to additional areas of the disembarkation zone. While the majority of the violence was not visible in the clip, several people were seen pushing another person to the ground before throwing punches and kicking the victim.

Daredevils may run into a hiccup if they're looking to climb the world’s highest mountain.
Mount Everest, located in the Himalayas, is exploring restricting access to the summit.
Nepal has drafted a law that would require climbers to have prior experience with hiking one of the Himalayan mountains, Reuters reported.
ANCIENT TEMPLE UNDERGOES RENOVATIONS TO PREVENT EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE
The proposed law aims at improving safety while also reducing overcrowding on the summit.
Those wanting to climb Mount Everest would have to provide evidence of having climbed at least one 7,000-meter (22,965 ft.) mountain in Nepal.
In 2023, 12 climbers were reported dead while five went missing following 478 hiking permits issued by Nepal, according to Reuters.
An area above 26,247 ft. on the mountain is referred to as the “death zone.”
That's where the air is too thin to support human life without supplemental oxygen.

Archaeologists recently announced the discovery of over 100 buried horses dating back to ancient Rome – but the skeletons weren’t found in Italy.
The excavation took place at Bad Cannstatt, a borough in southwestern Germany, said an April 16 press release from the Baden-Württemberg State Office for Monument Preservation (LAD).
The statement, translated from German to English, noted the town was one of the region's “most important Roman military sites” in ancient times. A cavalry unit there boasted around 700 horses at its peak.
