Researchers have found that keratin, a protein from human hair and sheep wool, can form a protective, enamel-like coating on teeth that halts early decay. Laboratory tests suggest this layer is much harder than current treatments, paving the way for potential keratin-based toothpastes or dental gels in the next few years.
