Fresh monsoon rains in Pakistan kill at least 20, disrupt ongoing rescue operation

At least 20 people were killed on Monday by fresh torrential rains in northern Pakistan, amid the aftermath of an unusually severe monsoon season that has already claimed more than 300 lives in recent days. Flooding and landslides have destroyed entire villages, leaving hundreds trapped or missing, while rescue efforts have been repeatedly suspended by ongoing heavy rainfall.
