Javelin star Neeraj Chopra bestowed with huge honour by Indian Army ahead of season-opening event in Doha

Two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra became the latest Indian sporting icon to be bestowed with the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army. Chopra had previously held the rank of Naib Subedar in 2016 and was later promoted to Subedar and Subedar Major in 2021 and 2024 respectively.

Neeraj Chopra had won a historic gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and followed it up with a silver in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Reuters
