NATO leaders agree to increase defence spending to 5%

NATO members on Wednesday gave into US President Donald Trump’s threats to withdraw from the mutual defence agreement Article 5, agreeing to increase their military spending to 5%. Some countries, including Spain, feared they would not be able to meet the target, leaving Madrid still uncommitted to the number.
