Taiwan nuclear referendum fails to meet legal threshold, but president signals openness to future use
Taiwan’s referendum on reopening its last nuclear power plant failed to meet the legal threshold, despite majority support from voters. President Lai Ching-te acknowledged public demand for reliable energy and said the island may reconsider advanced nuclear technology in the future if safety standards improve.
